Billboard Magazine Analysis

The first billboard magazine cover using pink as the artist has used quite a musky grey for the background colour this may have been used because it makes the font colours that are black white and yellow all stand out, a pink colour has been used as the outline for the main text which is her stage name ‘PINK` which states the obvious to the audience as to why they have chosen to use this colour and this is because it relates to her, the artist has also got pink her which makes it even more obvious for the reader. The billboard magazine cover looks almost graffiti like, with the way the bold outlines font is used on the grey background and the way the text feels quite 3D as if it’s coming of the page. These colours may have also been used as pink is known to be quite mainly like, not very feminine and that is maybe another reason as to why the colour pink was used, to make it more feminine and appealing to a girl audience. The main image for this magazine cover is the main artist herself pink who is a very well known famous music artist, she has been used as the ‘I` in her stage name ‘PINK` which I think is quite creative and makes the magazine stand out a lot more compared to others, no other imagines have been used as they may have wanted pink to stand out and become the main focus on the cover. I like the style of this magazine although it’s a lot like any other magazine it comes across a lot more creative and bold. the target audience for this magazine would be anyone who enjoys reading about music and singers, I don’t think it has a specific target gender as anyone are able to read the magazine, I also think the target audience is around the age of 18+.
The second billboard magazine cover which uses world famous singer Adele as their cover artist, the cover uses a dark background behind bright colours such as red, blue, green, yellow etc. as these colours are used to stand out as it’s the front cover therefore it becomes immediately more noticeable. the background of Adele almost looks like leafs/flowers of lanterns which connects to her recent concert where the whole stadium was filled with lit lanterns. The dark background may have been used because of how Adele is known for where her dark colours mostly black, this could mean it is her signature colour. The main image on the cover is Adele herself as she is the main focus on the magazine. Her face is clearly air brushed which gives a false first impressions to the readers as she may not look like that in person, she may also have been airbrushed so she has been made to look perfect and have flawless skin as that’s what the readers would want to look like and inspire to look like. To me the cover draws me in as the front looks as if the inside would be quite interesting to read because of the way it’s interesting on the outside of the magazine which draws the target audience in. the target audience for this magazine would be anyone who enjoys reading about music and singers, I don’t think it has a specific target gender as anyone are able to read the magazine, I also think the target audience is around the age of 18+.
