The cover of the magazine uses a bold red font, the pose that Emma Watson has been made to do is quite bold also which makes the magazine stand out a lot like the layout of the cover, the magazines purpose is to stand out and make customers want to buy the magazine. She has been airbrushed all over so she has been made to look perfect a lot like how any of the readers of the magazine would want to look. The house style is also the same on the magazine throughout every edition of it, the only thing that may change about it is the font colour.
ELLE is dominated by the main image which is a very well-known actress Emma Watson, she has been made to look like she directly looking at the reader to catch their attention. The way she has been posed looks as if she’s quite an independent person. She also looks quite sexy, the magazine may have done that to distract readers from the fact she was once known as that little innocent young girl who played a main character in the wold famous film ‘harry potter’ she is now known as that attractive grown up woman who has done well for herself.
Very few bright colours have been used on this cover, but although it is mainly red the cover still seems to come across quite noticeable and will attract the target audience which is the magazines purpose. The colours could be seen as more feminine than they are masculine this is because the magazine is aimed at the female gender. Another purpose of this magazine is to advertise the new trends and styles which has been emphasised by the large headline ‘The new trends’ this makes it more clear to the readers as to what the magazine is most probably about, the word ‘new’ also looks quite new itself, contemporary and modern/current which is look the magazine is going for. What Emma is wearing is also quite current and ‘in’ so it might make the reader want to know what other trends and fashion is inside.
Human interest stories have been used to make the readers feel like they’re more involved, like the magazines talking to them asking them something as if it were their friend asking. Because of the magazine being so well known to most people the title doesn’t have to be that shown, which is the reason as to why the title has been slightly covered by Emma Watson as she’s the main feature. The puff between the letters of the title show that it’s important for the front cover it will encourage the reader to buy the magazine as the puff promotes offers etc. this attracts people to buy the magazine.
